What to Expect
If you are 18 years old or older, and have hyperopia (farsightedness) or myopia (nearsightedness), with or without astigmatism, you may be a candidate for refractive surgery!
While most patients experience excellent results, there is no guarantee that you will be able to stop using your glasses entirely. If your goal is to reduce your dependency on glasses/lenses, you may be a candidate for refractive surgery!
We will start by examining your eyes to see if you are an appropriate candidate. You can be screened with current contact wear. However, before you can proceed, you will need to discontinue wearing soft contacts for at least 2 weeks and 4 weeks for soft for astigmatism, gas perm, toric or hard contacts. This is because contacts can alter the shape of your cornea. Your corneas need to be back to their natural state and be stable before you can be further tested and lasered.
Pregnancy and breast feeding can also affect the shape of your corneas, so we do not recommend refractive surgery until a few months after delivery.
If, after examination, you are determined to be a candidate, all of your appointments will be arranged for you.
